Neighborhood hospital to be staffed by board-certified physicians and will house state-of-the-art emergency department, inpatient beds, advanced imaging center and additional physician offices.

HOUSTON – July 13, 2016 – Dignity Health-St. Rose Dominican, in partnership with Emerus, is celebrating the start of construction on a micro-hospital serving the Sahara community – an area of southern Nevada in critical need of improved access to health care.

A ceremonial groundbreaking will take place at 10 a.m., Wednesday, July 20 at the northwest corner of Sahara and Decatur – the future site of the new micro-hospital. Among the dignitaries expected to speak at the event are Brian Brannman, SVP, Dignity Health Nevada, David Stillwell, COO of Emerus, Dina Titus, U.S. Rep. for Nevada’s District 1, and other government and community officials.

“We are elated to be a part of something so significant to the Las Vegas community,” Stillwell said. “In Dignity Health-St. Rose Dominican, we’ve partnered with a patient-centered organization that shares our vision and recognizes the importance of healing not only the body, but the mind and spirit as well. We’re proud to celebrate this tremendous partnership.”

The first level of the multi-million dollar hospital will feature a comprehensive emergency department, an inpatient wing, imaging and quick-access lab services. The facility will be staffed by board-certified physicians, experienced nurses and other clinical specialists dedicated to providing the same level of compassionate, patient-focused care found at DHSRD’s existing hospital locations. In addition to Dignity Health Medical Group practices, other floors will house St. Rose community outreach programs, additional physician offices and other ancillary clinical services to support community health needs.

The Sahara campus is the second of four micro-hospitals planned in Las Vegas, with projected openings beginning in 2017. Once open, each fully licensed hospital is expected to create more than 100 permanent jobs in the area.

All micro-hospitals will operate 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, offering patients the highest levels of care in a smaller campus setting.
